We all know what forms and documents are. We have all come across them in our day to day lives, their inevitable. If this is the case why then can each of us call out times when we have had to complete long, complicated, ugly, and just overall confusing forms? Because we have to! We have to complete the form to be able to accomplish something larger, for example to purchase something, to enroll for something or to request something. If the forms we fill out on a regular basis were not required to kick off or complete some larger process no one would ever fill out a form. Most people dread the idea of having to complete a form and personally I go out of my way to make my husband fill out all family forms whenever possible. Maybe this is because bad forms and documents rub me the wrong way since I know so many ways to improve them.
This is why I have created a six part miniseries exploring the idea that just because forms and documents have been clunky, complicated and under utilized for so long does not mean that they need to continue this way. Through this series we will explore common issues with forms and discover ways to improve them, not only for a better end user experience but also why optimizing forms and documents is a long term benefit for the organizations using them.
